A year to the date later from Winston being at Primary Children's for 3 days for severe jaundice, he was back. I was bouncing a ball to him as he sat on the top step of the deck. He either reached forward or just simply fell forward and hit his face on the step right below. I thought I caught him fairly quickly, but I knew he'd bonked his head. When I turned him over his mouth was already full of blood. I ran him inside to the kitchen sink where Liz was. We quickly assessed where he was bleeding from in his mouth and realized his bottom teeth were knocked striaght forward. We went to the Emergency room at nearby Alta View Hospital. We waited 1.5 hours for the doc to finally see Winston, just to be told we had to go to Primary Children's. Liz demanded they finally give Winston something for the pain. They gave him a small dose of morphine and monitored him for about 20 min before we could leave. We got to Primary and had to still wait another almost 2 hrs until the extraction of his teeth began. They had to hook him up with an IV and sedate him to take the teeth out. So now he's left with 1 out of his 4 bottom baby teeth. The whole experience was miserable, as I hate the hospital system. Our little gomer pile with get some fake teeth put in about a year from now to fill in the gaps. Poor boy.
